Effects of Art during Paint Nights

It's bliss to be trying your hands in painting. Colors have their own therapeutic value, and creativity is satisfying. Today's generation, are practically bored with the typical celebration styles, are getting inclined to paint parties – which are creative, productive and energetic.

Do you know why local paint night is so popular among your friends? May be because they feel rejuvenated after attending a session amidst colors and their loved ones. A paint night often acts as a therapy, and justifiably so brings in various changes in physical as well as emotional health of the attendees.

Before attending a local paint night at your chosen venue, please note that art has several therapeutic values – either directly, or non-directly.

•    A non-directed approach is flexible, and less structured than a directed approach. For example, you would draw, paint, color, or sculpt without guidelines.

•    A directed approach is more structured in the sense that you choose your preferred paint party that relates to certain feelings and emotions. With either approach, your feelings are expressed, and your stress levels decrease. The benefits of art therapy are provided in both approaches.

Different people will have different experiences of arts and creative therapies, but they all aim to:

•    give you a safe time and place with someone who won't judge you

•    help you make sense of things and understand yourself better

•    help you resolve complicated feelings, or find ways to live with them

•    help you communicate and express yourself, which might include feelings or experiences you find hard to put into words.

Relaxation at paint nights:

•    Paint or color while sipping wine: When art and wine are paired together, our brains and bodies can relax at its best.

•    Make a mandala: You can either print one off or draw your own – this is a meditative symbol that is relaxing to look at and work with.

•    Draw something very big: Get out the large pieces of paper or a big cardboard box and get your body moving.

•    Choose colors that are relaxing and calming to you and only use those: Sometimes certain colors elicit different feelings for us. Choose ones that speak to you.

•    Draw, paint, or sculpt outdoors: The sights, sounds, and atmosphere of the outdoors, when paired with art, are very relaxing.

There are several organizers who conduct local paint night to boost up your soul and mind using art as therapy. The right use of colors, and creativity amidst the company of close friends and family is soothing and if conducted in your familiar locality, it doubles up the effects.

The Artsy Backyard offers several classes varying in tastes, age group, timing and requirement of the attendees. If you are looking for an art therapy, you may contact them on Theartsybackyard.com or call at 323-828-4179 for booking your next class.
